1. George Lansell (1823-1906)

George Lansell was a prominent businessman and philanthropist born in Mitchell, Victoria. He is known for his success in the Bendigo goldfields, where he started as a humble miner and eventually became one of the richest and most influential people in the region during the gold rush era. Lansell contributed significantly to local infrastructure development, including the construction of hospitals, schools, and public buildings.

2. Tom Wills (1835-1880)

Tom Wills, born in the town of Molonglo, which is now part of the Mitchell region, is often credited as one of the founders of Australian Rules football.
